💋 LOLA REPORTS: “So Now We Care, Huh?” Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has suddenly discovered racism exists—just as long as it targets Jews.
After a synagogue in Caulfield, Melbourne, was allegedly torched in a hate-fuelled arson attack, the federal government announced a “new curriculum focus” on antisemitism, plus a federal hate taskforce.
And while that should feel like progress, it’s giving “too little, too late… and only for some.” Let’s be clear: antisemitic attacks are disgusting, and what happened at the Caulfield Shule is horrifying.
The synagogue was set ablaze on Friday night.
Police are still investigating, but it’s being treated as a hate crime.
Melbourne Jewish leaders, including Dvir Abramovich from the Anti-Defamation Commission, have warned about rising far-right threats for years—only to be told it was “alarmist.” Now the PM’s out here with a taskforce and press releases like he’s leading the resistance.
But where was that energy when Asian grandmas were being assaulted during COVID?
Where was the taskforce when African communities were being demonised in Melbourne media over “apex gangs”?
Where was the curriculum change when mosques were vandalised, or when the Christchurch shooter—an Australian man—gunned down 51 Muslims?
Crickets.
Now suddenly, Anthony Albanese is ready to rewrite the national curriculum and crack down on anonymous protesters with face coverings—because nothing says “we care” like a reactionary law that targets dissent rather than hate.
Oh, and let’s not forget Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s role in all this.
He wants harsher protest laws and has blamed the Greens for “enabling extremism,” which is rich coming from the guy who once boycotted the apology to the Stolen Generations and made a career off dog-whistle politics.
Meanwhile, communities that have been screaming about hate for decades are watching this unfold with a raised eyebrow and a mountain of receipts.
The bottom line? Antisemitism should be condemned loudly, clearly, and swiftly.
But the sudden action here exposes a brutal double standard: some hate gets a royal commission; others get ignored, vilified, or policed.
The Jewish community deserves protection—but so do Muslims, Asians, Africans, and everyone else who’s been the target of Australia’s casual racism industrial complex.
Because if your anti-hate plan only kicks in when it's white-passing victims on the front page, it’s not really anti-hate.
It’s just PR in a yarmulke.
